Howdy!

Soooo.

Which would you have carried on August 2, 1876... a pair or c & b Navies or this one?

According to Anderson, by the time they traveled to Deadwood, Hickok had gave up his Navies for a .38. I forget what model he said but I believe it was some sort of open top, if memory serves me correctly... I wonder if this was the gun and Anderson was mistaken about the caliber... Wouldn't he have carried a pair of these, though, since he was used to having two guns?

Thanks for the history lesson. I'll be planning a trip to Deadwood soon.

Howdy!

I was guess it is a "mis-memory" or a typo.

Being a great fan of the M1860, I would wonder on actually wearing a pair of them. But then again I wonder on the pair of .36 Colts as maybe being more of a "statement" at times as a fashion statement/image thing than an everyday set-up.

At any rate, loading oneself up with the bulk and weight of that much iron is not teh peak of comfort. I could possibly see it on the trail may be, but not so much squeezed into a saloon chair at a table trying to play cards and thinking about how to clear leather.

Not sayin', just speculatin'... :)

Seems like "Wild Bill" was like a handful of his homies were all about fashion......starting with long locks fancy facial hair! :D

Howdy!

I forget the make now, without looking it up, but he also had a pocket derringer- I assume for just such "occasions." :)
