30 year old 1840 Heavy Dragoon Saber (Old Wrist Breaker). This saber was a "proto-type" made in Pakistan for a Colorado purveyor of Mexican War/Civil War reenactors. As the Mexican War era living history was just in it's infancy, this saber was modeled after an original and took a tremendous amount of back and forth correspondence to get it right. The blade is still polished bright with a few light rust spots. There is some leather wrap that was worn off on one side of handle, otherwise still tight under wire wrap. The scabbard has turned "French Grey" with a few rust blemishes from "mounted service". A turn on a polishing wheel would turn the scabbard back to high shine......although there has been some debate as to whether the scabbard was either blued or browned......or left bright in the "white". The white buff saber belt fits a size 36" or smaller and was made in America. It comes with a lead filled back "puppy paw" belt plate and proper brass fittings. Comes with an American made and proper white buff Turkish saber knot. The model 1840 belt cartridge box comes with tin liner. Also has brass "US" box plate.

Additionally I am including a dragoon carbine sling with snap swivel. This was also built in Colorado. I would consider selling the sling or the cartridge box separately.

Purchased individually as new by well known, long standing Civil War/Mexican War accessories manufacturers, these in total would sell as high as over $800. Sold as a package $450 including shipping.
