In about a month my wife and I will be traveling through Wyoming and Colorado heading west from Lincoln Nebraska along I-80 along The Platte River up to Fort Laramie and then heading south to the Colorado mountains. I'm looking for any early military fort museums or Fur Trade museums that are worth visiting and is Ft. Laramie a good stop?

Half Moon......okay here it is:

Fort Uncompahgre and Bent's Fort, Fort Garland are the only ones I have visited or participated in Bents and Uncompahgre are recreated fur trade forts. Garland is Civil War era...though it was established in the 1850's...(I think)..... Garland was a military fort, which had previously been Fort Massachusetts on the south edge of what is now the Great Sand Dunes National Monument. Fort Mass was a Dragoon Fort in the 1850's and was the starting point for the running battle between Utes and Dragoons...ending at Poncha Pass.
