The Steamboat Arabia Museum is a fascinating place to visit and I encourage anyone driving through Kansas City to stop by and spend a few hours at the museum, well worth it. Back in February of 2015 my wife and I were visiting the museum I believe it was the third time there and I was just overcome with all the artifacts that I told one of the museum curators many of the artifacts on display I personally have discovered myself while metal detecting the fields in close proximity to Kansas City over the years. She was so intrigued she asked if I was willing to set up a display to show some of the artifacts I found over the years. No doubt many of the artifacts I discovered were transported by boat just like the Steamboat Arabia was transporting material when it caught a snag and sunk above Kansas City in 1856. Here is the backdrop they provided inside the museum for my display of artifacts. It was an incredible experience that day to talk with individuals from all over the country passing through the area and answering many questions about early Kansas History.
