Show us your 1830-1885 knives, swords, sabers....sharp pointy things!.................I'll start!
Here's my "soldier's knife"....built myself from a "Dixie" knife blank and from a spike elk antler.
Image
Here's my "frontier knife".....made from a file.....traded a electric blender for it! :D
Image
This is my "Federal era" saber which is carried by my "aged" 1834 Dragoon regimental commander.
Image
This was "custom" made for me from a India made saber............eagle pommel and and bone grip was added to by Karl Fisher.

Don....great originals.....however you can post your repros in "Living Historian" forum as well as it's sub-forums. :D

I was so close to buying a trapdoor infantry model back in the 90's and was always fascinated with these knives......made so much more sense then bayonets.......as with cavalry sabers.....little opportunity to get close enough to Indians to use them.

Not sure why my photobucket pics didn't pop up this time? :?

Howdy!

Yes, it is. Chuck created the sheath round the knife for me. And provided the picture.

Speaking of Winkler....what ever happened to him ??
Haven't seen or heard about him since about the third year of the Mansker's trade fest.
