Great forum BTW!

Might want to take another look at the picture previous as you have two actual pictures/threads started on Sieber else where that I have seen. But I don't think the above is a picture of Sieber. Although it is unquestionable that is a Winchester 1886 pictured here, Sieber actually used a Winchester 1876 in 45-75 (and Big Dry Gulch and else where during his career as a scout). That same rifle was still one of his few prized possessions when he died in a construction accident in 1907. Never seen a picture of Sieber posed with a gun. But no question he was better than fair @ using one. Quite a man and Scout by all accounts, as you have noted elsewhere here.

You may very well be right Dane. The photo does not really look like Sieber does it? I guess I will have to look more carefully from now on to be sure I have an accurate description and not just take the description with the photo as gospel. Thanks for bringing that to our attention.

No worries. Thought you'd want to know. And not the first time I have seen that picture credited to "Sieber".

I have been looking for info on Sieber for some time now.
Not found a single one with him and a gun of his in the same picture. Interesting to me since we all know how good he was with a gun. No posing to be found of Sieber. Seeing his Winchester 1876 listed in his last effects for probate in 1907 was interesting to me. But no hand guns listed. The man fought with a rifle.

This was interesting when Sieber made a point of owning and using a Winchester 1876 in 45-75. Ammo came from his own pocket and shis upply chain is my bet. Gun below is fully accredited to Sieber. But I would have to question if he used it after the Colt 1873 SAA and its ammo became "easily" available to him through the Army.

Just finished the book on Sieber. MY take for the book was, there were some tough, ruthless men living in Arizona during his time. Hard time...for some hard men. Sieber had both. Book is well worth the read.
